Upon arrival at camp, you'll be warmly welcomed by our team of cooks, camel handlers, and guides. After a refreshing lunch, enjoy some relaxation before a short evening walk down the sand river, culminating in sundowners on a lofty promontory with a sweeping view. The hillsides around the camp are home to elusive Greater Kudu, and we'll be on the lookout for these majestic animals. Back at camp, a crackling campfire awaits on the edge of the sandy lugga. After hot showers and drinks by the fire, we'll sit down to a delicious dinner under the stars.
We'll drive to our next camp, where our local team of cooks, camel handlers, and trackers will greet us. The Laikipia Masai refer to these rocks as Nayasura, and evidence suggests they have served as a camp for millennia. We’ll settle into our classic, spacious safari tents, enjoy a refreshing lunch, and take a short rest. In the afternoon, we’ll embark on a brief walk to explore the area and spot game. As the sun sets, we’ll reach the crest of Nayasura for drinks and snacks while observing the baboons returning to roost on the rock face.
After an early breakfast, we'll set out for Nyarara Camp, named after a large male cheetah frequently seen in the area. Our walk will take us across expansive plains and through mixed bushland. We may encounter herds of zebra, oryx, and Grant’s gazelle on the plains, and in the bush, we might spot dik-dik, gerenuk, impala, and, with a bit of luck, lesser kudu. We’ll arrive at camp in time for lunch. The pack camels, having taken a more direct route, will have set up camp before us. After lunch, we'll relax and enjoy sundowners at a picturesque spot.
Today, we’ll journey toward the EwasoNyiro River, which borders the eastern edge of the Laikipia Plateau before veering eastward toward Samburu National Reserve. En route, we’ll keep an eye out for eland, steenbok, and giraffe, while appreciating the changing landscape.
Upon reaching the EwasoNyiro, you might enjoy a quick swim before lunch. After a leisurely lunch, a rest, and sundowners on a high rocky hillside, we’ll return to our riverside camp for dinner and a celebratory toast to our adventure.
Following a morning walk and breakfast, we'll bid a fond farewell to our team before transferring to the next leg of your Kenyan adventure.
