7-NIGHT MATHEW’S RANGE WALKING SAFARI

8 Days

Start your adventure with a scenic flight or a 6-hour drive to the OlDonyoUasin airstrip, located northeast of the Mathews Range. The flight offers stunning aerial views of the landscape you’ll traverse on foot, while the drive from Nanyuki is equally picturesque. For those driving, we’ll arrange pickup from the scheduled flight into Nanyuki.

Throughout the safari, a team of camels will travel separately to carry supplies, setting up camp each day before your arrival. Riding camels will be available for the group. As you walk along an ancient footpath, used for millennia to reach markets on the western side of the mountains, you’ll encounter Samburu and Rendille people, adorned in traditional beads and vibrant attire, using the same route. Along the trail, massive boulders cling to the mountainside, wrapped in the roots of fig trees, creating an awe-inspiring natural landscape.

The pristine forests of the Mathews Range are home to diverse wildlife, including species yet to be described by science. The colorful De Brazza Monkey, only recently discovered in this region, is one of many fascinating creatures you might encounter. The area remains largely unexplored, making it an exciting destination for nature lovers.

Your final night will be spent at Kitich Camp, a luxury tented camp nestled in a river valley teeming with wildlife. Elephants, Buffalo, Bushbuck, and Waterbuck are common, while Hyenas, Leopards, and Lions also roam the area, though they are harder to spot.
